Editing Practice at Hedon Viewfinders – event passed.
Hedon Viewfinders is holding a photo-editing practice session during its meeting on Wednesday, February 11th. At the session, we want to look at the different ways that people have edited the featured image below.
You are invited to download the starting image and edit it using whatever editing tools/programs are available to you. We’d like to ask you to note down ‘How you did it’ so that we can share your editing experience as a learning aid for the rest of us. We have the starting image also available as a raw file and a DNG (digital negative) file. Email rlduffill@gmail.com to be sent these. For the purposes of this exercise, you CAN use AI (artificial intelligence) tools, should you wish.
Bring your finished resulting image to the meeting (as a digital file or a print) and be prepared to talk about how you did it. Please email your edited digital files to us by Monday evening (9th Feb) so that we can prepare to project them on the screen.

Affinity-edited worked example:
Rob Stirling has submitted the following funny image, ‘Numpty Dumpty’, into the #52WeekChallenge and explains how he created the image using Affinity:

Load egg, wall and sign photos.

Ctrl-c to copy the wall, select the egg and Ctrl-v to paste as a layer in egg.
Ctrl-c to copy the sign, select the egg, and Ctrl-v to paste as a layer in the egg.
Add masks to egg and sign layers then paint on mask layer in white or black to show the layer underneath or not to suit.
Add a new pixel layer and flood fill with black, reduce opacity to 50%, mask and paint until you get the appearance of shadows around the sign and the egg pieces.
Add a text layer and type to suit.
Thanks, Rob!
